Kichler | See What’s Important

Role

Creative Director, Co-Director, Concept

Deliverables

Longform, multiple cutdowns, stills, social

When we first received the RFP from Kichler, they had a script in place, but no visuals to go with it. They were looking for their RFP proposals to include visual ideas to match their copy. With that in mind, I worked with my co-director, Brent Jackson, to develop a storyline that brought the client’s copy to life through a series of lifestyle scenarios. We wanted to create tangible moments in the final piece where the house became a home, so we paid extra attention throughout to color temperature and mood to accentuate the scenes where Kichler lighting played a prominent role.

PROCESS

Moodboards are an important part of my process. They not only help to clarify my own thoughts on everything from art direction to color grading, wardrobe and lensing, it also helps to give my clients a sense of where I want us to go before we have any other tangible visuals to react to.

Storyboards are essential and I always build animatics out of them before shooting to get a sense of timing and pace. It’s a great way to feel out what is and isn’t working before shooting.
