Longform, Cutdowns
I worked closely with Ohio State’s University Libraries team to develop this piece. My client needed a video that spoke to both the depth and breadth of the library system and positioned them as a forward-looking organization that is focused on outreach, affordability, student access, research, and faculty support.
I did a number of pre-interviews to better understand their mission and organizational goals and then crafted a script made up of quotes from the pre-interviews as well as idealized versions of what I was hearing. This script, though the video would be interview-based, allowed me to articulate a narrative flow that allowed everyone to understand the structure of the story we were trying to tell.
I was then able to use this script to conduct our interviews as well, since both myself and client had an understanding of the lines we needed to articulate their mission in the proper manner.
I also created a number of cutdowns for social media as well. These cutdowns tackled individual themes such as research support, faculty assistance, and affordability.
I’m happy to say this piece won Best of Show at the 2020 Association of Research Libraries ‘Arlie’ film festival.
