YWCA Columbus

Each year the YWCA Columbus honors outstanding women in the community for their social justice achievements. Spacejunk partnered with the YWCA to bring its mission statement to life: eliminate racism and empower women.

Knowing this was an opportunity to dedicate our time and talents to such a worthy cause, we seized the opportunity to create a mini-doc style piece showcasing the Y’s three major areas of service: housing, social justice, and youth development.

We wanted to feature real women with stories about how the YWCA has affected their lives. The result was a truly inspiring piece that shows how resilient women can be when faced with adversity.

The videos that the YWCA had made in the past were more about their services, outreach, and statistics. Our take on it was to focus on leading with personal stories first and foremost to really bring their mission to life in a visceral way.
